Lovely stay as ever

The “lovely Joanna” kept us supplied with large succulent figs along with all the other superbly fresh vegetables and fruits, dried oregano, honey and fresh tasting orange marmalade – the latter especially welcomed by our accompanying house guest when the marmalade transported from England ran out. Then on another day she very obligingly cut us some sprigs of basil from the plants at her stall.

O Nikos restaurant in the village incredibly busy every night and a booking was almost essential. Aris, son of the owner and chief waiter, was run off his feet, so no chance of the usual friendly chat. Lovely meal at Akti near Peroulia – superb situation and very efficient friendly service – lovely grilled sardines, well worth a visit The best food though as far as we are concerned comes from the kitchen of the family owned restaurant in Methoni ‘Klimateria‘. Everything there is brilliantly cooked and presented. The gentle waiter said that it was still his parents who did all of the cooking – and it was so good.

Lovely stay as ever, showered with kindness from the neighbours. Ate too many pastries from Koroni’s bakeries and so on… All of the above is about food without mentioning the very real pleasure that is eating at “home”, Pilinos where everything is there for ease of cooking and comfort.
