Pilinos is a traditional stone house with a beautiful terrace garden

Situated in the heart of a quintessential Greek village, a holiday house near Koroni with a gorgeous secluded terrace and with views stretching across the valley and towards the Mani over the Messinian Gulf.

The house has 3 bedrooms, two doubles and one twin, and sleeps 6 people. It is furnished simply and comfortably. There is air-conditioning available, although given its location at the top of the hill it catches the afternoon breezes beautifully. The garden, which is not overlooked, has plenty of shade and a range of places to sit and relax including a very comfy hammock. There are peaceful beaches less than ten minutes away by car at Amoudi and Kalamaki and more ‘organised’ beaches to the east and west, including our favourites Tsapi, Triada and Peroulia. Easily accessible, Pilinos is an hour from Kalamata airport and around 3 1/2 hours from Athens.

The bustling harbour of Koroni, with small local supermarkets, bakeries, fresh fish shops, butchers and a wide variety of eateries, as well as a busy market on Sunday mornings, mean you will eat and drink well. We love to watch the world go by with a cool drink at Takis’ kafenion by the water, and have been lucky enough to spot seals and turtles there. And do look out for Joanna’s fruit and vegetable stall on the roadside on your way into town, her oranges make the most exquisite juice and the house is equipped with a juicer to start your mornings perfectly.

Located in Vasilitsi – a traditional Greek village

The house is situated at the tip of the south-westernmost “finger” of the Peloponnese. Rural and remote but not far from Koroni, Vasilitsi is a traditional village with a few 21st century additions. You will hear donkeys and chickens as well as motorbikes and TV’s. The residents are very friendly and the church bells are lively.

In a region known for its wonderful oil and olives the village is surrounded by open countryside and fantastic views across the Gulf of Messinia to the Taygetos mountains of the Mani. With a small village shop plus two kafenia, you can get all you need within a short walk of the front door. And the jewel in the crown is Nikos’, a fantastic taverna renowned for miles around for the quality of the food, mostly organic and grown by Nikos, the generous size of the portions and the small size of the bill!

Loved every minute at this picture postcard of a place. You'll be tucked away on a hilltop village with the breeze cooling you as you plan your beach adventure, or your evening trip to the exceptional village taverna, Niko's. Bravo Pilinos!

Pilinos is the perfect cottage for rural Greece lovers. It's very well looked after, cosy, very clean and well equipped. The communication with Emma was impeccable. The nearby beaches are stunning. Moreover the village is a good starting point for trips to the mountains and archaeological sites. It's very relaxing spending time in the beautiful, green garden with lovely seating. We were regular guests at the local grocery store and restaurant Nico's. Highly recommended!

Where do I start? We have stayed at Pilinos twice and have booked a third stay later this year! Authentic Greek house and village. Comfortable, clean, unpretentious with everything you need for a simple holiday. Kitchen well equipped, plenty of towels, bedding and even beach chairs and guide books. We especially adore the hammock in the charming garden that overlooks the village. A beautiful, safe to swim beach frequented by locals, the odd in the know tourist and turtles who lay their eggs, is a short drive away. The nearby town with supermarket, harbour and restaurants about 15 minute drive and plenty of unspoilt scenery to discover in the region. To get there one hour drive from Kalamata Airport an easy route with hardly any traffic, hire car essential. If you want a pool, night life and everything on your doorstep - its not for you, but Pilinos is just perfect to us.
